Aarau – Nuclear Canton of Switzerland

Aarau can be called the nuclear canton of Switzerland, of the four reactors currently operating in the country, three are located here.

Switzerland is gradually abandoning nuclear energy. In 2017, after the Fukushima disaster, a referendum was held, at which it was decided not to build more nuclear power plants. Those that exist will continue to be used until the service life expires. Then nuclear reactors will be replaced with renewable energy sources.
